Nelson Mandela died on December 5. His memorial service was held in a 70,000-seat soccer stadium. World leaders came to honour him—100 princes and presidents and prime ministers. So did the people of South Africa.

What could one man have achieved in his lifetime to inspire such sadness at his death?
