St. Paul Island, a volcanic island off the coast of Alaska, has a big problem – maybe. In June, two residents thought they saw a rat.

The island is home to about 350 members of the Aleut Community and hundreds of wildlife species. But rats aren’t welcome here.

As soon as the report came in, a team of wildlife officials sprang into action. The team went to the apartment building where the rat was seen. They searched the building and crawled under the porch. They shone flashlights into dark corners.
